Australian Mist (Cat)


Australian Mist (Cat) is a medium length and size, muscular, feeling stronger and heavier than its appearance indicates;


Body: Of medium length and size, muscular, feeling stronger and heavier than its appearance indicates; chest strong and rounded in profile. Legs should be strong and muscular, paws oval in shape. Tail long, thick at the base with minimal taper.

Head: Broad, blunt wedge, contours rounded, curved profile. The nose and forehead are equal in length, the forehead is convex. Strong chin and lower jaw. The nose is broad and of even width.

Ears: Large, wide at the base, with rounded tips. Set low on the head, tilted slightly forward, the outer line of the ears continues the lines of the head.

Eyes: Large and set wide apart; the top line of the eye being straight, the lower line being rounded. Eye colour any shade of green.

Coat: Short, glossy and resilient with undercoat.

Colour: Rich and warm with rufous toning on nose, cheeks and ears present even in the palest colours. Paler on the underside. As it takes a long time for the colour to develop fully in Chocolate, Lilac, Caramel, Gold (Cinnamon) and Peach (Fawn) kittens, they will be much paler than adults until full colour is achieved at 2 years of age.

Spotted or Marbled markings. The coat patterns have three levels of efinition: ground colour, paler than pattern; pattern, delicate though distinct from ground colour; a misted mantle, caused by random ticking in the solid coloured areas

Faults: Pinch small or high ears are faults. Disqualify in any other colour than green in adults. Absence of coat ticking leads to disqualification as well.
